The Kalamalka Highlanders Pipe Band is a community-driven pipe and drum band rooted in the heart of Vernon, British Columbia. Established in 1984 under the direction of Pipe Major Reg Scott—who led for two decades—the band continues its spirited tradition under the leadership of Pipe Major Maureen Soichuk and Drum Sergeant Neil Morrison.
We proudly wear the striking Portree tartan, honoring the rich traditions of the Isle of Skye while celebrating our local heritage. Our mission is to foster a love for Celtic music, provide mentorship to aspiring musicians, and bring the stirring sound of bagpipes and drums to community events, parades, and official ceremonies.
In 2013, we were honored to become the Associate Band of the British Columbia Dragoons, supporting military functions and performing at dignified occasions such as the Change of Command parade, the Spring Ball, and the Okanagan Military Tattoo. Whether performing at local fairs, national celebrations, or private engagements, the Highlanders bring a sense of pride, history, and passion to every performance. We are more than a band—we are a family of musicians committed to keeping the traditions of Scottish piping alive in the Canadian West.
